Assiniboine Riparian Forest
Directly off Highway 83 & south of Miniota is the Assiniboine Riparian Forest, where there have been over 900 trees planted since 2008!
Birtle Beach
Our beach can be found at the Birtle Riverside Park, off Morton Drive & Main St. Sand-bottomed and chlorinated, it's undoubtedly a summer hotspot. Not to mention, a fantastic location for watching the fireworks on Canada Day!
Birtle Centre for the Arts
Located at 671 Main St, Birtle Centre for the Arts offers residents the opportunity to create. Expand your skillset with an impressive variety of classes for all ages, taught by local artisans. Birtle Lion's Pooch Park

Birtle Lion's Pooch Park is located just off Highway 83, at the west end of Birtle. It's a great stop for a game of fetch or to meet up with your doggy friends!
Farmers Markets

Our markets are held in the summer and a great chance to grab some local produce, baking, crafts and more. Follow Birtle Centre for the Arts, Birdtail Country Museum and Foxwarren Museum on Facebook for all the info!

Geocaching & Adventure Labs
Prairie View offers geocaching and Adventure Labs in both Birtle & Miniota. Geocaching is a fantastic outdoor activity for all ages. At geocaching.com you'll find more information on how to play, as well as coordinates in the Prairie View area! It’s a great way to discover local parks, trails, and hidden spots, while having an adventure with the whole family.
Golf Courses
The Municipality has two golf courses with carts & clubs available for rent. They offer a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get out with friends - the themed events are always a guaranteed night of laughs and friendly competition!
Hiking Trails

Prairie View has plenty of trails to keep you active, whether you're snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, or leisurely taking in the beauty of the surrounding countryside. There’s always a new path to explore!
Hockey & Curling

Drop by the Birtle & District Community Centre or the Miniota Community Centre for a hockey game or two, public skating, curling bonspiels & Santa Days! These community hubs are great places to gather, cheer on local teams, and enjoy time with family and friends.
Kayak & Canoe
Birtle has a launch point on the north side of town, along Kent Street, and kayaks to rent from the Birtle Tourist Booth during the summer months.
Miniota's launch point is one mile west off of 83 Highway on Road 78N.
At Hoopers Lake, small boats can be launched at the beach area - or head north to boat launch.
Mini Golf
Foxwarren has a 9-hole mini-golf course. Clubs and balls are available for use by the bench outside during the summer months. Donations can be made to the Foxwarren Leisure Centre!

Playgrounds

You'll find more than a few beloved playgrounds in our municipality - check out the Miniota Town Square & Birtle Beach! These welcoming spaces are perfect for kids to play, families to gather, and memories to be made.
Sledding
One of the perfect spots for sledding is at the Birtle Elementary School - but really, you have your choice of hills Prairie View. Bring the kids, grab a toboggan, and appreciate one of winter’s simplest pleasures - all you need is a sense of adventure!
Snowmobile Trails
Hit the trails - snowmobiles are popular here & for good reason. Our trails wind through rolling farmland and wooded valleys, with plenty of space to explore.
Wakpa Tanka Lookout
One of Prairie View Municipality's valued historical sites and the only known single-component campsite of its kind in Canada, Wakpa Tanka Lookout offers visitors a unique and essential window into the history of the land.
Wildlife Watching

Prairie View Municipality is ideal for bird & wildlife watching. We've been featured in Manitoba Wild by author Bill Stilwell, and we're considered part of the province's Wildlife Management Areas, which "exist for the benefit of wildlife and for the enjoyment of people." These spaces play an important role in biodiversity conservation and are definitely worth exploring.
